September 27, 2025, will mark one year since Hurricane Helene swept through our region and communities. This storm left many Haywood EMC member-owners in the dark for extended periods of time. While storms and flooding are, sadly, nothing new to our communities, the size and scale of Helene was unlike anything we had experienced in our nearly 90-year history.

Over the past year, Haywood EMC has made many repairs and updates to continue providing affordable and reliable electricity to our member-owners. This has led Haywood EMC to rebuild portions of circuits and taps, replace damage infrastructure, and work to move flood-prone infrastructure. These changes are our way of building back in a more resilient way, ensuring Haywood EMC's efforts to power a brighter future in our community.
