Haywood EMC Plans Transmission Line Repair in Clyde on Thursday, November 7th

Haywood EMC’s crews plan to attempt to repair a damaged transmission pole on Thursday, November 7th along the Pigeon River in Clyde. The affected pole was damaged in the flooding from Hurricane Helene and repairs were able to be held off until power restoration efforts were completed following Helene. 

In order to safely attempt to repair the damaged transmission pole, Haywood EMC crews will have to feed power to the member’s served from Jonathan Creek substation from other areas. This power diversion will cause a brief outage for all member-owners served by the Jonathan Creek substation before 9:00 A.M. and after 3:00 P.M. when repairs are completed. The affected communities are outlined at the bottom of this page.

Haywood EMC workers will also have to take a planned power outage to the neighborhood immediately around the damaged pole. This outage will last the entire duration of the repairs - expected to last 5 hours beginning at 10:00 A.M. for the member-owners along Riverview Drive, Stoneridge Rd. And Wrestling Dr. in Clyde.

The communities set to experience a momentary lapse of power while the switching occurs are - Dogwood Lakes, Joe Carver Road, Heath’s Peak, South Qualla Road, Bob Boyd Road, Cove Creek, Suttontown Road, Fox Run, Asbury Howell Road, Utah Mountain, Countryside Acres, Jonathan Creek Road, Beantown, Red Maple Drive, Shelton Cove, Pot Leg Branch, Ned Cove Road, Left Fork of Hemphill, Hemphill Road, Fie Top and the Cataloochee Ski Area.
