Haywood EMC offers text messaging to help members stay informed during power outages. These alerts will send you notifications when an outage has occurred, estimated restoration time, and when the outage has been restored. We can also alert you when we have tree trimming, planned power outages, or line inspections occurring in your area.
You will receive a text as soon as the outage has been reported. You can report outages by texting OUT to the text outage alert number (888) 438-4362.
Not every time. During large outage events, HEMC will use text message alerts to share general outage information rather than information related to a specific service address.

Yes, you can cancel or stop text outage alerts at any time by replying "stop" to the HEMC outage text.
