Day of Cleanup Held for former Haywood EMC Lineman and Vietnam Veteran
Lee "Junior" Gaddis came to work for Haywood EMC after serving in Vietnam for several years. Upon arriving home, he was awarded a Purple Heart. He served as a lineman with Haywood EMC for 29 years until having a stroke and having to retire. Now living on disability, normal day to day tasks have become difficult to impossible for Lee. On May 26th, several community members and Haywood EMC employees came together to cleanup and repair parts of his home and yard, which otherwise would be left untouched! Haywood EMC holds 6th Annual Member Appreciation Day
Haywood EMC held its sixth annual Member Appreciation Days, one at the main office in Waynesville on May 22 and the other at the district office in Lake Toxaway on May 24. Members enjoyed fellowship with each other while having grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. We had 942 members attended the days this year, which is 322 more members than in 2017!
“It was a real pleasure to see everyone who came out to enjoy this time with us. Despite the threat of rain on both days, both events remained dry. We were able to share our gratitude and appreciation with our Electric Cooperative members; thank you for allowing us to serve you!” said Ken Thomas, your cooperative’s Manager of Marketing and Communications.
After the Member Appreciation Days, we received letters of thanks from a few members. OL and Linda Yates of Waynesville wrote “Thank you for all your kindness with the membership appreciation event. Everyone was so kind to the members.” And Harald Eidsmo of Maggie Valley wrote “We would like to thank you and the staff for hosting the fun member appreciation day event. We had a great time and your staff was so hospitable!”
