As the cost of energy goes up, more and more people are concerned about their utility bills. Consumers are looking for ways to manage their energy use and reduce costs. Haywood EMC has always placed a priority on promoting energy efficiency to their members. That's why we are focused on helping our member owners use electricity as efficiently as possible, to save money through the efficient use of energy. |
Through Touchstone Energy, Haywood EMC has taken a giant step toward helping members manage their energy use. In cooperation with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Haywood EMC now offers their members the Home Energy Saver, a robust online energy audit that helps consumers identify the best ways to manage their home energy consumption. |

This new resouce quickly calculates home energy use based on a detailed description of a home, its appliances and geographic location. Plus, all energy applications (heating, cooling, lighting, etc.) are included in the calculation. Armed with the findings, co-op members are able to estimate how much energy and money they can save by implementing energy efficiency improvements. |
The Home Energy Saver was the first Web-based tool to compute energy use in residential buildings, according to LBNL. The Web resourse is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as part of the national ENERGY STAR program for improving energy efficiency in homes. |
