Who is Eligible?
Young men entering sixth, seventh or eighth grades are eligible for the Roy Williams' Carolina Basketball Camp Scholarship. Each winner will receive an all-expense paid scholarship to attend the Roy Williams' Carolina Basketball Camp June 16 - June 20, 2012 . Contestants are to write a brief (300 words or less) essay from one of the two topics provided. Please provide TYPED essay answers on a separate sheet of paper, along with your application form. All applicants must have a parent/guardian’s signature under the Parental/Guardian Consent portion of this application in order to be eligible for the scholarship.
Contest Guidelines:
- Male students who will be entering sixth, seventh or eighth grades are eligible to apply. Not applicable for those students going into the ninth grade.
- To find out if your school is eligible, please contact your local electric cooperative. For a complete listing of all 26 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, please visit www.ncelectriccooperatives.com and look for the link on the left to the Touchstone Energy sports camps.
- Criteria for contest include:
-Originality and accuracy of written essay—55 percent
-Scholastic and extracurricular activities—40 percent
-Short answer question—5 percent
- Forms must be completed and returned by March 30, 2012.
- Complete forms using ink, typewriter or attached computer printout. All essay entries must be typed. Entries completed in pencil will not be considered.
